An original Edward Tomkus (Scottish, b.1936) waterclour and gouache on paper painting featuring a rugged coastal landscape scene of a rowboat struggling against the tide. Rendered in fine detail with small gulls circling in the distance. Signed bottom left and housed in an elaborate lacquered and moulded frame. Tomkus has a good auction history with works fetching into the early hundreds at Whyte's.

Tomkus is a Scottish artist who works with oils, watercolours, charcoals and scraperboard. He is of Lithuanian descent and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. After travelling all over the world he found himself a home in Ireland more than 30 years ago, whose beauty he has transformed to canvas. He has painted consistently from the age of 12 when he had his first exhibition of watercolors in the offices of the Scottish Daily Express.
