A FIRST WORLD WAR GROUP OF FIVE TO A CASUALTY WITH THE CANADIAN INFANTRY. A Great War group of five comprising 1914-15 Star named to 61199 Sjt G. De Montigny 22/ Can Inf, War Medal and Victory Medal to De Montigny as Q.M. Sjt, A French Medal for the encouragement of Devotion to Service and a French 1914-18 Commemorative Medal. Mounted as worn on original ribbons. Born in Montreal on the 18th November 1881 De Montigny enlisted in the Canadian Army on the 27th October 1914 joining the 22nd Battalion Infantry. Leaving for France on the 15th September 1915. On the 6th December he sustained a severe gun-shot wound to his chest and taken to the 5th British Red Cross hospital at Wimereux. After a period in hospital and recuperating he was pronounced fit for service on the 3rd June 1916 after a period of training. Returning to France as part of a reinforcement draft in September 1916. He was demobilised on the 23rd March 1919. Mounted for display with copied research.
