EARLY INGOING MAIL TO INDIA & MILITARY MAIL FROM ADEN PAIR: A 1798 EL addressed simply "Captain Robert Nanney, Madras, East Indies" rated "8[d]" ms in red with a fine "CHESTER" horseshoe(CH115, but used here some years earlier than recorded) over an indistinct red "MADRAS" double circle postmark; and an 1897 9p ovptd "ONE [crown] ANNA" "SOLDIERS' AND SEAMEN'S ENVELOPE" countersigned & cancelled with a partial "ADEN/JU 26/97" squared circle and backstamped Liverpool & Bromborough thimbles.
