The estate of the late Barbara Tate (1927-2009) - Barbara Tate PSWA RMS FSBA FRSA (1927-2009) - 'PERSEPHONE'S SUPPER' (no.16 in Barbara's catalogue) - oil on canvas, 18 by 22ins. (45.7 by 55.9cms.), in gilt frame - signed lower left. Footnote - aside from a few of her miniatures we and the beneficiaries of the estate are unaware of any of Barbara's works ever appearing at auction - most of her exhibited works were NFS (Not For Sale). Artist and writer, Barbara was President of the Society of Women Artists from 1985-2000, and the Barbara Tate Prize is still awarded annually in her honour. Barbara was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Artists, a member of the Society of Botanical Artists, a member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, and was appointed an Honorary Professor of Thames Valley University. Accolades for her paintings include Gold and Silver Medals from the Paris Salon and Grand Prix de la Cote d'Azur (the original certificates for these are held with us, alongside copies of her exhibition catalogues and artist's catalogue, one of which will included with each of her works sold). Barbara was author of The Times Bestseller 'West End Girls'.
