India Letter - Brighton/Weymouth. 1837 (Mar 4) Entire from Sydney to London "Per Florentina", landed at Weymouth in a closed bag and sent to the London Ship Letter Office where it was handstamped with red boxed "INDIA LETTER / BRIGHTON" (In.2) in error, overstruck by red boxed "INDIA LETTER / WEYMOUTH" (In.1) with a second strike alongside and matching London c.d.s, marked "1¾oz" and charged 6/2. A remarkable error of port, proving these red India Letter handstamps were applied in London. Photo on Page 66.
