An extremely rare early Victorian novelty silver cream jug / sauce boat in the form of a swimming duck, Edward, Edward Junior, John & William Barnard, London, 1839, the duck looking to the right, head and neck used as handle, tail feathers the spout, with naturalistically modelled feathers, gilt interior, retailers mark engraved to base ‘THOMAS’S BOND St’, 5 1/2in. (14cm.) long, heavy gauge silver, weight 7.14 tr.oz. Scarce * Condition: Maker’s mark a little indistinct to starting letters, otherwise very good.
