ARTIST ARCHIVE: WILLIAM SHACKLETON (1872-1933): an extensive collection of 150 sketchbooks revealing the evolution of this Yorkshire artist's work. The first sketchbook, dated 1903, attests to Shackleton's desire to record and capture the world around him and in particular the landscapes of his native Yorkshire: final sketchbook dated 1932, just months before Shackleton's death, the whole containing some 5000 images, almost entirely uncoloured, each sketchbook stud-bound with one lower board, initialled leaves dated and with locations in  pencil: together with a small quantity of misc. related ephemera.
