A mid 19th century Coromandel writing slope, the fall with vacant oval brass cartouche opening to reveal fitted interior with writing surface and various compartments and two inkwells with Sheffield plated covers, the writing surface opening to reveal a gentleman's collection of various marble and rock samples etc. (mostly very early examples including a stone from the Acropolis, stones from the theatre at Petra, Neolithic flints, rim of Roman amphora, other similar early pottery pieces etc. the slope bearing the inlaid label  Parkins & Gotto,  24 & 25 Oxford St., London (35cm wide)
