Rare Bilston enamel 'pocket watch' pill box, circa 1780, with a clock face, the hinged box enamelled with coloured flowers and with foliate sprays against a deep blue ground, with brass ring for suspension, 45mm diameter

More Information

The dial has a circle of light abrasion from the movement of the hands. The enamel appears to be good with no restoration found. If being highly critical, the enamel around the button is a little untidy and when viewed through a 10x loupe tiny cracks can be seen. Also a hair crack can be seen on the inside edge of the base. This does not exhibit on the outside. There is a small crack within the brass adjacent to the hinge of the base, both sides. The box closes correctly.
