A complete set of 1944 Greek drachma notes (half million, one million, two hundred million, ten billion and hundred
billion!). Beautifully presented in a gilded frame. Notes are in good condition.
During the German-Italian occupation of Greece (1941-1944) catastrophic hyperinflation caused much higher
denominations to be issued culminating in One Hundred Billion Drachmas notes to be issued in 1944. At the time
the cost of an egg was a few hundred million drachmas.
