Georges Carette et Cie, a twin cylinder horizontal live steam steam engine, model 694/2, c.1911, lithograph decorated, raised on a wooden base, 33 x 15cm.
Carette (1861-1954) moved from France to Germany in the late 19th century, and founded in the toymaking region of Nuremberg. Originally manufacturing tinplate toys, Carette graduated to also producing steam-powered models and is probably best known in the UK for the gauge 0 coaches that Carette made for Bassett-Lowke.
