An English Civil War period horseman’s sword, straight double edged blade 32” with central wide fuller, marked “SAHAGUM” and orb and heart mark on both sides, the hilt having slightly flattened spherical pommel, bulbous centre to knucklebow, scrolled side guards, thumb ring and side rings with pierced plates, the grip bound with copper wire and strips, and with single Turk’s head (the other missing).
