An oyster satin trained wedding gown, with elbow length, shaped sleeves, pleats to the upper bodice, the neck being trimmed with an early 19th bobbin lace, various floral decorative additions, being formed from the satin and embellished with pearls, metal thread embroidery and silver paillettes; together with a circa 1880’s cream silk bustle back dress with long sleeves and train, the fitted gown mainly plain silk, with side panels in embossed silk, floral design, button front, pleating added to the bodice, ruching to the skirt front, machine lace duster flounce to the hem, net section within the train, unlined (2)
Splitting to the silk in numerous places, some light foxing, exceptionally long integral train. The second gown has wear mainly near to fastenings, with some small areas of wear to the skirt that have been darned, but a large area crudely repaired at hip level. Some splitting to the skirt, a further split at the bottom of the train, underarm staining.
