Attributed to either ALLAN RAMSAY(1713-1784) Scottish or his rival 'Thomas Hudson (1701-79) the English Portrait of a Gentleman', reputedly thought to be a member of the Campbell family, Dukes of Argyll, various past auction labels and chalk references verso.

Provenance:
Sold through Christie's King Street London 'Major Old Masters Sale' held on 8th June 2006, purchased for a private family collection and shipped up to Edinburgh and subsequently a Country House in The Scottish Borders.
Also, reputedly verified, according to the family, with influential independent experts at the time.
Verso, various auction house labels and faint/indistinct stock No's.
