A rare bronze Abraham-Louis Breguet commemorative medallion. Designed by F Peuvrier, dated 1824. Obverse depicts Breguet in profile and inscribed De L’Institut de France. Reverse inscribed ‘Ne A Neuchatel En Suisse En 1747 Mort A Paris En 1823 - Paris 1824’. Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747 - 1923) was a highly regarded watchmaker to the scientific, military, financial and diplomatic elites and royalty in Europe during the 18th/early 19th century. 4.2 cm diameter.
