A highly decorative Syrian or North African Moorish Mashrabiya style 2 seater sofa or settee, early to mid 20th century, elongated rectangular shape, resting on four squared feet, with an arched openwork mashrabiya-style backrest and sides, the armrests, backrest, and legs decorated with typical Middle Eastern marquetry work featuring a variety of stained and ebonised wood and mother of pearl inlaid patterns including Art Nouveau style geometric designs and text which translates as "Humility leads to elevation and honour", significant woodworm damage to back leg which is detached, with cream upholstery, approx 145cm wide x 68cm deep x 97cm tall
