P.O. BOX 1000 INTERNEE CAMP MAIL - GUSTAV BAUER ARCHIVE INC. RED CROSS FORM, AIRGRAPHS, AIR LETTERS, ETC.; 1941-45 group of items addressed to, or relating to, Bauer during his 5 years in the Beau Bassin Internment Camp, where he was apparently nominated to be the postal clerk to go regularly to Port Louis to collect ingoing mail (with some 1970s letters from Bauer to Dave Tarry regarding some of these items). 22 Oct. 1941 Red Cross form to Bauer with message from Austria, 1944 pair of rare Airgraphs to and from Bauer (to/from his wife in Leeds), 1941/2 trio of stampless envs. (stamps removed by censors?) ex GB to Bauer with v. fine or fine "B2" triangles or faint "B4" triangle, and 1945 trio of GB 6d Air Letters to Bauer with fair/fine B4(2) or B2 Triangle censors. Also an unused Jan. 1945 "DETAINMENT CAMP - BEAU BASSIN/PASS", and Bauer's 1945 "DETAINMENT CAMP PASS" with ms entries for visits to Hospital, and a 3rd Class rail ticket from P. Louis to Beau Bassin that Bauer is thought to have used at the time. Remarkable and Important lot.
