CRIMEAN WAR - RARE INGOING COVER FROM SCOTLAND MARKED "NOT CLAIMED" VIA FRENCH "ARMEE D'ORIENT"; Fine 17 Oct. 1854 EL (part printed "Bought of William Wilson & Co." billhead inside - rare thus) from "Bannockburn" to the "93rd Highlanders, Expeditionary Army, Turkey" charged "8" with a fine "STIRLING" cds on the front, but the addressee could not be found so there is a m/s "non reclamee" and 31 Oct. 1854 & 1 Jan. 1855 overlapped 2-ring "ARMEE D'ORIENT/BAU" cds's coded "G" and "CAL" [Constantinople] respectively on the reverse, and so also with m/s "Not claimed" on the front. Mail returned from the Crimean Forces such as this is very rare. Exhibition Quality.
