A large Afghan carpet, the beige field with a mauve medallion and all-over multicoloured scrolling foliate design, the broad red border enclosed within two narrow borders of beige and blue, with similar decoration. 344cm by 251cm
The rug is mid-weight for its size. The very short pile has a silky feel to it – worn in places, especially to middle section. Various patches of moth damage throughout, to borders and middle. No labels verso. Selvedges and fringes intact. Appears to lie flat. No apparent foul odour.
