(roughly opened) with original letter written by Doris Lavarello to Danny Leary who was the Telegraphist on Tristan during 1945. Addressed to Hackney with red tombstone From HM Ship / Passed by Censor hs overstruck in London with red two line MARITIME MAIL hs. Interesting contents discussing life now that the troops had withdrawn, etc. Letter would have been carried from Tristan by SS Empire Merganser departing 20 Feb. 1946. A scarce item.
