The second generation of the CL was made from 1999–2006. It is based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, though it rides on an 8-inch shorter wheelbase. The CL's front fascia of four oval headlights is similar to that of the E-Class. The CL is offered as four models: the V8-powered CL 500, the NA V8-Powered CL55 AMG, the supercharged V8-powered CL55 AMG, the NA V12-powered CL 600, the limited production (about 200 per year worldwide), 5.5 litre V12 Bi-Turbo CL600, the very rare limited-edition NA CL63 AMG (26 examples only), the 2000 NA CL55 AMG F1 Edition (55 examples only), and the limited production (196 total) 6.0 litre V12 Bi-Turbo CL65 AMG. All models seat four people. Development took place from 1993 to 1999, with final design being approved in 1996.
This is the flagship model of the Mercedes-Benz 500CL V8 Coupe. It is in Brilliant Silver with a Light Grey Leather interior, wood trim, and too many extras to mention, but includings soft closing doors, command centre, electric sunroof and seats, adjustable suspension, which is working faultlessly. The car comes with original full toolkit. The car was in excess of £85,000 when new. Smooth ride and very fast. Only three owners since new and genuine 61,000 miles. Vosa MoT history from 2005 at 23,000 miles. Unfortunately paperwork and service history has been lost. The first owner was the ex chairman of Aston Villa football club - Doug Ellis!
