Paul Garnier, an early Pendules Portative clock having an eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with an outside countwheel and fitted with Garnier's chaff-cutter escapement patented in 1830, the backplate stamped with the serial number 234, P.G. Breveté, and engraved Paul Garnier à Paris, mounted on a satin-wood scroll-shaped plinth and round base, with glass dome, height 18cm, with base, 23cm including dome. Various examples of this style of Garnier clock have been noted including signed by Raingo Fréres and Janvier.
