R.M.S. TITANIC SECOND THIRD CLASS STEWARD SIDNEY SEDUNARY: An extremely rare key from on board the Titanic to Sidney Sedunary's locker on board R.M.S. Titanic. This corroded iron key with brass tag 'Locker 27' 'E Deck' was recovered from his body and was sent back to his widow. It was acquired by Brian Ticehurst, a leading Titanic historian and author, directly from Sidney's son alongside several other items and remained in his collection, having been on display in various Titanic conventions over the years. It was sold prior to Brian's passing when he consigned it to Henry Aldridge and Son in 2014, it has remained with the purchaser since. A letter of provenance from Mr Sidney Sedunary Jnr. Samuel Francis 'Sid' Sedunary was a Third-Class Steward who signed onto Titanic on 4th April 1912. From evidence given at the official enquiry, Sid was seen in F Deck selflessly handing out life jackets, prior to Titanic sinking, to those in need of them.
His body was recovered by the Mackay-Bennett #178 and this locker key is documented as being one of those items recovered.
