World War One. 1915-17 Covers to or from B.A Wallis-Wilson who joined the first Ceylon Contingent in 1915 as a private, was later commissioned into the Hampshire Regt. winning an M.C and bar, and was killed leading an attack on 26th September 1917. Five Field Service cards posted to G.B or Ceylon (4, three from Gallipoli, Egypt or Salonica); and a cover franked 5c from Ceylon to Wallis-Wilson with the M.E.F, ½d due mark, various datestamps and cachets, returned with a Colombo R.L.O label. Also an obituary from the "Times of Ceylon" printed on card and a Photo taken in the trenches. (8).
