Austrian painter, dancer, dance teacher, overall artist. Sigmund Walter Hampel brought symbolism and Art Nouveau together in his work; His characteristic artistic work was determined by the idea of ​​the total work of art. With his friend Gustav Klimt, the love of the Attersee connected him. Hampel spent his summer freshness and his retirement in Nußdorf on Lake Attersee. 1885 - 1888 studied at the Vienna Academy under August Eisenmenger, Heinrich von Angeli and Sigmund l’ Allemand, from then on. 1894/95 co-founder of the seven club in Magdalenastraße in Vienna. 1904 Grand Prize at the World Exhibition in St. Louis / USA, member of the Hagenbund until 1911. 1908 Golden Medal at the art exhibition in Rio de Janeiro. 1911 member of the Künstlerhaus. 1918 awarding the Salo Cohn Prize in Vienna. 1920 honor diploma of the international art exhibition in Rio de Janeiro. 1937 awarding the Austrian State Prize. 1942 residence moved to Nußdorf am Attersee, Ranssonnethaus. 1947 awarding the "Golden Laurel branch". At the age of 14, he painted a portrait of his grandfather, who caused a sensation and praised the academy professor Heinrich von Angeli to add Hampel to his studio and, at the age of 17, registered to the general painting school of the Vienna Academy. After three years he left the academy business, which he felt inhibited; Just like the Neukunst group around Egon Schiele. Hampel worked in tempera, watercolor, oil painting, pen drawing, miniature painting, created jewelry, richly decorated portrait heads, laid behind ground mountain crystal, he designed furniture and more. Hampel was a co-founder of the Dalcrotze School in the Hellerau (Switzerland)-an Institute for Art Dance-and devoted himself to the development of rhythmic gymnastics in connection with the classic dance. In 1923 the war memorial was built in Nußdorf after his plans. An art historical review and museum presentation took place in 2003 on the initiative of Dieter Fuchshuber as President of the Association of the Upper Austrian State Museums. The exhibition project in the State Gallery at the Upper Austrian State Museum was curated by Susanne Heilingbrunner on behalf of Assmann and Martin Hochleitner.
