A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 61475, DARLINGTON WORKS, 1940, from a (NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY) Class S3, LNER B16/1 Class, 4-6-0 No 846 built at Darlington in March 1920. It was rebuilt and re-classified to B16/2 in 1940, hence the date on this plate. Renumbered 1406 in 1946, it became BR 61406 and was again renumbered to 61475 in 1949 to accommodate a newly built B1. Allocated new to Heaton, its only other sheds were York and Hull Dairycoates from where it was withdrawn in April 1963 and cut up at Darlington Works. Cast brass, 9"x5", cleaned but unpainted.
