ITALY (PAPAL STATES)/BELGIUM - UNPAID COVER WITH RARE "F./25" MARK USED IN ERROR: 6 April 1866 unpaid EL (tape stains on reverse) from Rome to "MALINES" (10 April backstamp) with fine rare "F./25" (Article 25 concerning mail to Bavaria) accountancy mark used in error instead of the correct "F. ¦ 40" on the front (v. slightly overlapped by Rome cds). Front also bears m/s "7" decimes, partial "E. PONT/ 3 CULOZ 3" transit mark & Roman business cachet. An attractive cover with rare mark made even rarer by its misuse.
