A VERY FINE & RARE IRISH, CORK, GEORGE III SILVER HELMET SHAPED SUGAR BASKET, circa 1790, impressed with STERLING mark to the underside of the base, along with maker’s initials – SG for Samuel Green. The basket has a curved & reeded swing handle, and the helmet shaped tapered body is decorated with delicate finely applied bright-cut decoration boughs with tassels and foliage, on a short stem with oval shaped base having further bright-cut detailing.
