Volume I: Brown leather boards with gilt lettering to spine, one or two minor marks to boards, corners bumped and worn, slight wear to board edges, spine is splitting from the front board, wear to spine, gilt decoration to the inside of the board edges, spine has raised bands, all edges gilt, marbled endpages, bookplate, front inner hinge is starting to crack, rear inner hinge is threatening to crack, b/w frontispiece with tissue protection intact, text block has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean, pp.512, many b/w illustrations.
