A Richard Young for Merrow Associates 1970s "Mid-Century Vintage" rosewood and chrome circular dining table. 137 cm diameter x 77 cm overall height
Purchased from Harrods in the early 1970s and remained in the same ownership until consigned to sale
It is believed that Merrow Associates was set up by British designer Richard Young. He was the principal designer and had studied at the Royal Academy. The furniture is characterized with it's use of wood (often rosewood) chromed steel and glass. It was very high quality but was only produced in small numbers. It was retailed in only a few exclusive outlets such as Harrods. With it's distinctive style, quality and rarity, pieces are now well sought after. Article 10 certificate No 614764/02 Merrow Associates Furniture included Dining Tables and Chairs, Coffee Tables, Drinks Trolleys, Shelf Units, Side Tables, Bookcases, Desks and Sideboards. It is thought the company was operating from the 1960s through to the early 70s. The company is now no longer running.
