Indian Army. 128th Pioneers Officer’s binocular case circa 1903-22.

Fine scarce light brown pigskin example lined with velvet The flap bears a gilt crowned circular scroll inscribed “128 PIONEERS”; silver crossed axes to domed mirrored centre. Gilt Acanthus leaf mounts retaining large gilt pouch belt loops. Complete with closure tongue. VGC

28th Bombay Pioneers became 128th Pioneers in 1903 then 3rd Bn. 2nd Bombay Pioneers in 1922.
