Fossil: Large Extinct Blue Megalodon Shark tooth, 12cm long. The Megalodon (Otodus megalodon) meaning "big tooth", is an extinct species of mackerel shark. The largest shark to have ever existed, it lived between 23 to 3.6 million years ago, from the Early Miocene to the Pliocene epochs. It was previously thought to be a close relative of the Great White Shark, and although taxonomically it has changed, it is believed that it resembled a Giant Great White - up to 20 metres (66 ft) long.
Good overall condition. Splitting running vertically through the front and underside of the tooth. Base of tooth is good. Minor chipping.
