East Indiaman Henry Addington Isle of White 1798 A display of musket trigger guards, side plates scabbard frogs etc. we read- TRIGGER GUARDS FROM BROWN BESS MUSKETS ENGLISH EAST INDIA COMPANY SHIP 'HENRY ADDINGTON' A very large Indiaman of 1432 tons, built by Wells, in 1796, on the Thames, was outward bound for Bombay and China on her second voyage from new, when she went ashore on Bembridge Ledges, Isle of wight, on 8th December 1798, and became a total wreck. These trigger guards of muskets, butt plates and throat pipes, were all part of the large cargo of weapons she carried, destined for India.
