LOCAL INTEREST: An impressive Victorian silver trophy the 'Benenden Trophy' presented by the long distance area branch of the Civil Service Sanatorium Society. Raised on an acanthus leaf base and with acanthus leaf decoration to the body and handles. The reverse of the cup depicts in relief three soldiers surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. Hallmarked for London 1862, makers George Richards and Edward Brown. Overall height without base 26.5cm. Gross silver weight 840 grams.
