Edward VIII (1894-1972), King of the United Kingdom 20 January 1936 until his abdication, 11 December 1936, document signed "Edward R I" as King, 13th July 1936, black ink signature upper centre and seal of the privy council upper left, a pre-printed document with typewritten insertions, being a pardon to Thomas Ray Britcher who had been convicted on 22 September 1934 "of being under the influence of drink when in charge of a motor vehicle and ordered to pay a fine of ten pounds", the pardon also remitting him for the fine imposed, further signed in black ink to verso by John Simon, 1st Viscount Simon (1873-1954), folio (33 x 20cm), framed and double glazed, whole approx. size 43.5 x 30.5cm. An uncommon document signed by Edward VIII during his brief reign of only 326 days as King of the United Kingdom
