WW1 Most Distinguished Order of St Michael & St George Companion's neck badge (CMG), Distinguished Service Order, 1899 QSA 4 clasps Defence of Ladysmith, OFS, Laing's Nek, Belfast to Lieut A.W. Parsons 19/Hrs, 1902 KSA both clasps to Lt A.W. Parsons 19/Hus, 1914 Star to Major A.W. Parsons 19/Hrs, BWM and Victory Medal with MID oakleaf to Lt Col A.W. Parsons and French Legion d'Honneur 5th Class, some contact marks to edge of QSA, generally very fine to extremely fine, half court mounted as worn except for CMG which is in its Garrard box of issue.
Alfred Woodis Parson's CMG was announced in the London Gazette dated 22nd March 1919 and his DSO was announced in the London Gazette dated 24th March 1915.
The Army List states he took part in operations in Natal 1899 including actions at Rietfontein and Lombard's Kop, the Defence of Ladysmith including sortie of 7th Dec and action of 6th Jan 1900; in Natal March to June 1900 including action at Laing's Nek; in the Transvaal, east of Pretoria July to 29th Nov 1900 including actions at Belfast and Lydenberg, ORC May to 29th Nov 1900, Transvaal 30th Nov 1900 to 31st May 1902 and in ORC May 1902, twice mentioned in despatches in London Gazettes dated 10/9/01 and 29/7/02.
He was commissioned in 19th Hussars 7/5/98, promoted Lieut 23/6/00, Capt 1/1/05, Maj 20/1/17, Lt Col 9/10/18. WW1 he was mentioned in despatches 5 times in London Gazettes dated 19/10/14, 17/2/15, 1/1/16, 11/12/17 and 20/12/18 and awarded French Legion of Honour. With copied MIC, LGs and Army lists.
