1820s-50s MALTESE CROSS DATESTAMP GROUP OF MAIL - mainly Lombard St types inc. 1829 EL to Glasgow with famed "½" wheel tax on the front rated '2/8' and v fine blue "L.S/L.S" ds on the back, 1832 EL to Belfast pre-paid '1/4' with "PAID/L.S" ds on the front, and 1835 EL to Hastings paid '8' with "PAID" ds on the front then turned and used back to London. Also small number of Vere St examples inc. Apr. 1839 env. with red "VS" ds on the back sent to Ireland with crowned circle "FREE" ds on the front where signed 'Wicklow' and Charing Cross examples inc. 1829 EL to St Columb with v fine blue "C.H/X" ds on the back rated '3/-'.
