UNDERPAID SMALL QUEEN 6c COVERS TO G.B. WITH BOXED "DEFICIENT..." MARKS - ONE WITH "OVER½ OZ" + IRISH "6d"; 27 Nov. 1873 + 27 Mar. 1874 pair of envs. (first with part reverse lost) from Victoria B.C. or Quebec to Ireland/England, each with Small Queen 6c (tied by dumb bars or by fair Quebec duplex), and each with large boxed "DEFICIENT-POSTAGE[3]/HALF-FINE[1½ = 4½]" mark (of Montreal? & Quebec?) on the front. The first also with v. fine "OVER½ OZ." mark as well as v. fine "DERRY" cds on the front beside (matching oily inks) a v. fine [London]Derry h.s. "6d" (usually wrongly attributed to Dublin), while the other just has a pencil m/s "6".
