Style of John DOWNMAN (1750-1824) Portrait Samuel Hunt of Stratford 18th Century oil on oval copper panel, 20x13.5cm Samuel Oliver Hunt (1771-1801) of Stratford upon Avon married Lucy Anne Enys in 1794. Died in 1801 at the age of 29, leaving his widowed wife with three young children. Lucy Anne would return to Cornwall and reverted to her maiden name of Enys. Provenance: Enys House, Falmouth. (by repute) The reverse of the painting reads: “Robert ?? (sic) Hunt of Stratford on Avon about 1791 Bought by John Enys from Mrs Hunt of Folkestone 1906.”
