A 1796 PATTERN HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD. With an 83cm tapering pointed blade with single short fuller, the blade lightly engraved with GR monogram beneath a Crown, Royal Coat of Arms (1801-1816 period), tarlton pattern helmet and other military trophies, named for 'Gibson's Thompson and Craig Warranted'. With a gilt hilt with shell guard, cross bar and silver wound wire effect grip, and light 'D' shaped bow. 102cm overall length.
Gibson Thompson and Craig were an Edinburgh maker. *CR: some wear to gilding and blade surface. *BP 22.5% (18.75% plus VAT) plus a lot fee of £8 inc. VAT on each lot.
