5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales) Dragoon Guards Victorian Officer's Albert helmet c1855-71.
A fine rare example, the gilded skull with ornate flaming plume holder of gilt metal supporting the white over red horsehair plume with gilt rose boss. To the front, a crowned rococo shield resting in laurel and oak sprays, bearing cut silver star mounted with oval gilt strap inscribed P.C.W. DRAGOON GUARDS; VR Cypher to centre. Both the front and back peaks are ornamented with applied acanthus leaves. Large gilt rose bosses support a leather backed chin chain. The interior with original silk liner, now a little shot.
