This coin was struck to commemorate the opening of the Parliament House in Canberra in 1927. (Now known as Old Parliament House). 2,000,000 were struck and were first issued on 09 May 1927. It features a front view of the original Parliament House.
Shortened version of the crowned and robed bust of George V left, GEORGIVS V D:G: BRITT: OMN: REX F.D.IND:IMP:. Designed by Edgar Bertram MacKennal. / Parliament House within an oval frame set above crossed scepters. Superimposed on the scepters is a raised oval with the date, PARLIAMENT · HOUSE · AUSTRALIA. Designed by George Kruger Gray.
