A smokebox numberplate, 30317, from a London & South Western Railway 700 Goods Class 0-6-0 No 706 built by Dubs, Works No 3529, in May 1897. Renumbered 317 in June 1898, it retained this number in SR days, becoming BR 30317. A long time Salisbury engine, it finished its days at Exmouth Junction from where it was withdrawn in July 1961 and cut up at Eastleigh Works. The front repainted, the BR(S) Eastleigh triangle cast on the back. (Postage Band: D)
