GB.QUEEN VICTORIA 1841 - 1864 LINE ENGRAVED PENNY REDS, SPECIALIZED. A beautiful collection mostly arranged in an exhibition style / standard in 4 large binders, the pages in protective pages. Note 2 volumes of chiefly 1841 1d red-browns begins with a display of 8 mint / unused examples showing different papers, alphabets and colours, an example with blue Maltese Cross, 10 examples with blue numerals incl strip 4, many plated incl all the 'black plates' and all the Maltese Cross period plates with efforts made to display stamps & covers by plate numbers to plate 170 (note a spectacular cover to Paris bearing SIX 1d imperfs from plate 168), 2 positional sheet reconstructions (one with 239 stamps, the other 240), numbers in MC, multiples to block 6, plus so much else; 1 volume of the perforated 1d 'stars' including many plated examples with re-entries, doubled letters and the rest, pages from the Tonna & Gardner-Hill collections with blued paper plates to 203 and R1-R6 & white papers to 68 and R17, studies of the 'Gothic 'K's', examples with green cancellations etc, etc; the final volume of 1864-79 1d red 'plates' includes mint examples (with a couple of blocks), an unusual study of watermarks, underprints & perfins, plates to 225, reconstructions, covers selected for 3, 4 and 6- stamp frankings, much else.
