The Daimler 2.5 V8 was launched late in 1962. It was essentially a re-badged Jaguar Mark 2 fitted with Daimler's 2.5-litre V8 engine and drive-train, a Daimler fluted grille and rear number plate surround, distinctive wheel trims, badges, and interior details including a split-bench front seat from the Jaguar Mark 1 and a black enamel steering wheel. Special interior and exterior colours were specified. Most cars were fitted with power-assisted steering but it was optional. Automatic transmission was standard; manual, with or without overdrive, became an option in 1967.
This Daimler was found by the vendor in need of a full restoration. The car has now been totally rebuilt and is in outstanding condition. The body preparation and high quality repaint in its original Opalescent Green, cost in excess of £8,000, and all other work on the car has been done to the same exacting standard. The underside of the car is as good as the top in terms of the finish. No expense has been spared in the interior, with all the wood re-varnished, the leather re-connolised and top quality wool carpets fitted as a finishing touch. All the exterior brightwork has been re-plated and the wheels restored and new tyres fitted. The engine and gearbox have been stripped and rebuilt and every other mechanical part of the car has received attention. The car is in amazing condition and comes with a substantial amount of history including its original Buff Log Book, a pile of bills and receipts for expenditure over the years, and the original service record and main dealer warranty card.
