An extremely rare combination flintlock blunderbuss carbine/ pistol/ gun/ walking stick, c 1760, the frame, breech and trigger guard with acorn finial of tutenag (German silver) engraved with scrolls and foliage, signed “London”, with sliding safety catch in front of the trigger guard, and with Birmingham private proofs; the detachable shoulder stock for use either with the 6” steel blunderbuss “cannon” barrel or the 32½” smooth bore gun barrel, breech and gun barrels having interrupted threads for rapid attachment or removal; the small ball pistol butt when screwed into the gun barrel forms the handle of the walking stick, for which purpose there is a push in metal muzzle plug which forms the end. Good Working Order and Condition. Note: this is the actual piece illustrated in “Blunderbusses” by Baxter, published by the Arms and Armour Press in 1970, plates 55 and 56. Plate 22
