Tony Bennett
Extensive Tony Bennett memorabilia collected by Joan Shaw. During the 1950's Joan met Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra during a cigarette break in performance outside the Royal Albert Hall, since when a lifelong friendship evolved between Tony and Joan. She visited in America on several occasions and he made sure she had the best complimentary seats for his performances, and for his eightieth birthday party with all expenses paid she was given a seat at the top celebrity table. He always gave her the best seats when he was performing in the UK and they met off stage before and after the show with dinner later at Ronnie Scotts Jazz club. Over the years he gave her many gifts - CD's, photographs and memorabilia and being a celebrated artist, he gave Joan pieces of his arkwork. An unusual friendship between International singing star and a lady from a council flat in Harrow that lasted over sixty years. The memorabilia briefly comprises a collection of over one hundred pieces including two signed watercolours, pencil sketch, pen and pencil sketch of two ladies, many signed cards and programmes, CD's, tapes, LP's, books, VIP guest passes, boxed engraved champagne glasses 2006, badges, rehearsal schedule 1982, printed invitation from Tony and Susan, and menu cards to his 80th birthday celebration, advertising associated leaflets and photographs, many signed pieces.
