A mid 18th century Scottish basket hilted backsword, straight single edged blade 34½” (originally slightly longer), with full length broad and shorter narrow fullers and false back edge, the hilt of conventional form with turned down quillon and bun pommel, with wire bound rayskin grip. Basically GC (age wear to the hilt, one complete section of the guard missing and crack to one side bar). £1000-1200
