Slavery - a boat shaped dish, in the manner of Eric Ravilious (1903 - 1942), possibly for Wedgwood, printed with a diagram of the layout of a the hold of a slave ship, taken from Fig.IV of Carl Bernhard Wadstrom's Essay on Colonialization, London 1795, the sides with verse, To be snatched from us...my good deed dear Boy is gone..../Such a character and so much Worth/I suppose he was considered too good for this world/I have not ventured to tell my dearest wife of it for it would break her heart, 35cm wide, first half 20th century
