A Charles I oak joint stool with a single piece top the frieze carved with lunettes and with turned slender cup and cover turned legs united by cross stretchers. 44 cm wide x 26 cm deep x 55 cm overall height, together with a small late 17th-century oak bible box with an inclined lid fixed by black iron external hinges, the frieze carved with Vitruvian scrolls. 42 cm wide x 26 cm deep x 26 cm high. A private Kentish collector The top of the stool is of period timber but it is fixed in an unorthodox way and maybe an early replacement then carved to the edge by the Victorians.
